Happy New Year!
I'm enjoying a few quiet moments this morning (with my Daughtry CD playing softly in the background) before our day gets going.

Sometime between noon and 6 p.m., four families will come by to celebrate the new year. Some may come at noon and stay all day; others may stop by for a bit, then head off to do something else. We're just looking forward to having fun - and hosting our first "party" of the year.

Today's menu is chicken & sausage gumbo, rice, garlic bread, hot crackers, sandwiches (ham & cheese, turkey & cheese, and PB&J), apple crisp with vanilla ice cream, chips & salsa, veggies and dip (Cool Cucumber and Sesame Garlic), and chocolate chip cookies. We'll also have grape Kool-Aid, sweet tea, and soft drinks.

We'll also have several games on hand to play. I think the main one will be Apples to Apples since you don't have to play an entire game - and anyone can jump in whenever they want to. (We'll probably not count green cards to win; the game is fun no matter how you play it.)

Well, everyone is up now. Since the quiet is broken, I guess I need to get started on my to-do list for this morning. The earlier I start, the earlier I'll get finished - or the less I'll have to do when our guests arrive. I think I'll get it all done.

I hope your New Year's Day is full of family and friends and fun!
